1-800-Flowers.com wanted to modernize its gifting experience with smarter, more human-centered technology. Despite a strong digital footprint, customers often struggled with too many choices, vague filters, and uninspired gift suggestions—leading to frustration and cart abandonment.
2. 🎯 My Approach
I supported the strategy, experience design of GWYN, an AI-powered chatbot built by training IBM Watson’s natural language engine with 1-800-Flowers data.
Key steps:
Designed conversation flows based on common shopper pain points
Mapped emotional triggers around gift-giving intent
Collaborated with IBM’s tech team to align UX and AI outputs
Storyboarded and prototyped user journeys that felt helpful, not robotic
